Hazel Gap Barn - Summer Wedding

Hazel Gap Barn by Cripps & Co, is definitely one of the most wonderful venues within the East Midlands and this is why it is so popular.

Here as some of the features of Hazel Gap:

  • A dramatic red-brick barn on the Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire

  • 150 person capacity (ceremony & dining)

  • 250 person total capacity (including evening guests)

  • State-of-the-art Funktion-One sound system

  • Late night license until 1 am

I received an email from Joanna enquiring about our availability for her wedding…

and as soon as I see her requirement I was ready to jump on it!

Joanna said:

I was thinking lots of white flowers and greenery, lights and candles throughout the barn.

The barn also has two large wrought iron chandeliers that we will have full of candles provided by the venue and there are two pulleys to attach flowers balls to which we quite like the idea of so we would be interested in finding out costs and ideas for those too.

In the barn itself we will have the ceremony in and then the evening reception as well. There is also the bar area and the room where we will have the wedding breakfast to decorate too with centre pieces.  Both barn and the wedding breakfast room have quite high ceilings with fairy lights on them however I’d love to add to this with more lights, greenery etc around the beams.

I have also attached the flowers and bouquet ideas I liked, I would like majority of white and then a little burgundy red, in particular I like ranunculus roses, gypsophilia, eucalyptus etc.“

Joanna was living in London and so most of the communication that we had from the first email was through video chat or phone calls.

I designed the first mood board proposal keeping in mind that the ceremony area at Hazel Gap is quite dark and moody and so I created a concept that was in keeping with the venue’s features and adding extra wow factors.

Four months prior to the wedding date I met Joanna at Hazel Gap to finalise all the floral design and decor details.

One of the concerns that was raised at the meeting was that Joanna wanted to create some statement decorations and so I designed this extra large hanging floral ball, a stunning door frame decoration and a 12 meter long decoration to be placed on the wall that divided the bar area and the wedding breakfast room.

The end result was simply stunning. So much so that we were honoured to be then be offered by the Hazel Gap venue the opportunity to became one of their recommended supplier. And so the story continues….

I was so happy to receive this wonderful reviews from Joanna & Mike few weeks after the wedding:

“Hi Marco,

Mike and I wanted to send a note to say thank you so much for your beautiful flowers on Saturday!

The barn, tables, wall display and beams were absolutely stunning and the bouquets and button holes were just perfect! The whole venue looked absolutely out of this world and all our guests commented on how they’d never been to such a beautiful venue!

Even the registrars who said although they have been to Hazel Gap many times before, they had never seen it look so spectacular and even took photos of it!

Thank you so much again for making our day so special!

Kind regards

Jo and Mike”
